Monthly Archives: April 2009

Getting off the plane on Monday and going straight to work just made things easier getting back into the swing of things. Finishing up wedding pictures from this weekend and in between taking calls and emails. Tonight back to work on the beat.

Since Monday night watching the Keith Harring’s documentary the whole Paradise Garage era has returned to my head and my mp3 player. Right now:

Ceybil Jefferies – Love So Special

I danced to this track so much during the 90s. But to hear this track a little more clear, try this:

Back from NYC and we are beat! Our flight was here half an hour early, so we got to work on the plane and emails went out as soon as we landed. Here I am writing emails and frizzy hair ready to land.

Here is a view of South Florida. Ready to get back to work.

So that’s it, for now. Today it’s all work, emails being sent out, calls being made and deals being finalized. We are stepping out early for an event this evening, then back home early for some needed rest from our trip.

As for updates with the galleries, thanks for being patient. Last week before I left, the last editor had their pick of the images I shot and now I can post what I have left over which is PLENTY! But I have started working on those galleries and I am going to have a celebration when they are posted.

Also, the remaining galleries, are also being worked on. I am taking a tiny nap right now, follow the tweet…

On the second Saturday of the month, it’s Art Walk over at Wynwood and Design Districts. Best visuals, well that all depends on the type of art you are into, but I loved the New World screening (below) …

…and Richie Fahey’s art at The Harold Golen Gallery. He shot this image, and painted over it…looks fantastic.

Then on Tuesday April 14th, it was over to see some of the night crew at some event at one of the fancy hotels. Emmy and I reviewed itĀ  – more her, on my “radio show” later on that week. I can’t really comment about it, since I was focused on entertaining my friend who was here from outta town.

The nightlife crew…

On Saturday April 18 it was the FIRST EVER, Pride Parade on South Beach!! Yeah, I still can’t believe it myself. Here are some I shot for Miami.com.

The very next day, it was a totally different crowd over at Jimbos where local bikers and their friends and spectators came out to celebrate the man’s 82nd birthday. Oye, lemme tell you, this is the pimp daddy. Every lady up in that dusty raggedy shack was trying to get hers. The man looks nothing over 70. Pictures will be published soon.

Jimbo ain’t playin’

In between, it’s been a busy month, doing things all over the city, shooting new venues, artist and documenting my life here in South Florida. We did manage to head out to The Standard for a half day of rest last week, which was fantastic. Too bad they were renovating the locker room or else it would have been 100%. Had a great lunch, enjoyed a lemonaid, that cool refreshing drink and sat under the umbrella the whole time the sun was out with 55 SPF. We plan on doing that soon.
